A leading fit out contractor with 70 years of track record on commercial office and workplace projects is looking for a Proposals Manager to lead their tender and bid activity. This is a high-visibility role for someone who can write credible submissions under pressure and coordinate complex bids across multiple teams.
The Opportunity
Our client is a well-established fit out and refurbishment contractor based in South London. They've delivered commercial office, workplace and refurbishment schemes ranging from £1m to £75m across London and the South East. The business has built a strong reputation for delivery and client relationships, and they're looking to strengthen their proposals function with someone who can manage the full tender lifecycle and improve win rates. You'll report to senior leadership and work closely with estimating, preconstruction, operations and design teams.
What You'll Be Doing
- Manage tenders from enquiry through to submission, including PQQs, ITTs, RFPs, framework call-offs and direct appointments.
- Run bid/no-bid assessments and advise leadership on opportunity fit, risk profile and win probability.
- Write and edit technical and commercial responses, method statements, programmes, approach narratives, team CVs and value-add proposals.
- Coordinate input from estimating, preconstruction, design, health and safety, sustainability and quality teams to agreed deadlines.
- Build and maintain a library of case studies, capability statements, accreditation evidence and reusable content.
- Ensure consistency across every submission on brand, tone, compliance standards and accuracy of supporting evidence.
- Track live bids and outcomes, and use feedback to improve future win rates.
- Support client presentations, interviews and clarification responses as required.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience writing and managing tenders in construction, fit out, refurbishment or property, ideally for contractors on commercial office, workplace or mixed-use schemes in London and the South East.
- Strong understanding of PQQ, ITT and framework procurement, and of the evidence buyers expect on health and safety, quality, sustainability and social value.
- Excellent written English, able to make technical content clear and persuasive for project directors and non-technical evaluators.
- Solid project management skills, managing multiple live bids and competing deadlines without losing accuracy.
- Confidence with senior stakeholders and the judgement to challenge weak content or late inputs constructively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience with bid or CRM tools is an advantage. Familiarity with Constructionline, Achilles or CHAS is desirable.
What's On Offer
- Salary £60,000 to £65,000 depending on experience.
- Permanent role based in Croydon, South London with hybrid working arrangements.
- Pension scheme, annual leave, and opportunities to work on schemes ranging up to £75m across the South East.
- A business that values rigorous, credible submissions and gives this role genuine visibility with leadership.
