A graduate surveyor role with a property company that's been operating since 1963. You'll work across acquisitions, lettings, valuations, and asset management with direct support from the Property Director, all while the company funds your APC fully.
The Opportunity
Our client is a family-run property company managing a varied portfolio of residential and commercial properties across the UK. Based in Goudhurst, Kent, they're a small, close-knit team where you'll gain exposure to the full breadth of the business from day one. You'll work closely with senior decision-makers and take on meaningful responsibility early, without the bureaucracy of a larger firm.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lease management: Support rent reviews, lease renewals, surrenders and re-gears. Maintain schedules, tenant records and property data.
- Acquisitions and disposals: Identify and review potential acquisitions, prepare analysis for disposals, and gather comparable evidence for appraisals.
- Lettings: Prepare appraisals for proposed lettings and sales, instruct external agents, negotiate lease terms with agents and solicitors, and track progress to completion.
- Valuation work: Assist with preparing internal valuations and gathering market data to support them.
- Projects and refurbishments: Organise and coordinate refurbishment projects, prepare specifications, manage tender information, and support CDM and health and safety compliance.
- Planning: Assist with preparing and submitting planning applications, liaise with architects and consultants.
- Dilapidations: Work with external building surveyors, review reports, agree scopes and negotiate settlements.
- Residential oversight: Liaise with managing agents, review reports and support the Property Director on management matters.
What We're Looking For
- RICS-accredited degree in Real Estate Management, Building Surveying or a related discipline.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with a commercially minded approach.
- Clear communicator who can liaise effectively with tenants, contractors, consultants and agents.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to take responsibility while working in a small team.
- Full UK Driving licence (you'll travel across Southern England and occasionally UK-wide).
- Commitment to pursuing your RICS APC. Relevant work experience, placement year or internship in property is desirable.
