The Opportunity
Our client is a very well established mid tier main contractor with a strong track record in delivering projects from £10m upwards. Key sectors for them are Commercial, Education, Healthcare, Leisure and Residential.
They're looking for someone who can embed quality and technical rigour into every project — someone who'll lead their design function, challenge their supply chain, and keep a close eye on risk and profitability.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead design delivery across projects, setting the standard and holding design providers accountable to requirements.
- Manage quality, technical and operational risk whilst spotting opportunities to protect and improve margins.
- Develop tender strategy and lead design team selection before contract award.
- Oversee design preparation, development and contractor design packages through to completion.
- Control change, manage RFIs, handle document control and support soft landings activities.
- Run design reviews, audits and mark-ups; prepare reports, schedules and programmes.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in design management, quality assurance or a similar technical leadership role.
- Strong command of risk management, change control and contractor liaison.
- Construction-related technical qualification and verifiable construction experience at a senior level.
- CSCS card (current and valid).
